Introduction to Hainault Youth Provision
With the building of the Hainault Estate, in 1945, provision was needed for the 14-20 year old in the evenings. With the building of the two senior schools, Grange and Kingswood, Youth centres were provided on these sites by the Dagenham and Ilford County Councils. In 1965 they both became under London Borough of Redbridge
With the amalgamation of the two schools in 1980 they were renamed Hainault Youth Centre.
In 1990 a purpose Youth Centre was built in Huntsman Road and is still operational.
In 1962 Princes Margaret opened a purpose Built Youth Centre for the Voluntary Youth Organisations in Manford Way, under the name Dockland Settlement.
The building closed in the 90s. Flats now occupy the site.
All Churches in the area also have provision for the young people.
