The Manford Way  Business Partnership was set up in 2001 to make Manford Way a centre of excellence in a quality environment for business, shopping and leisure.
To oversee and promote business in Manford Way Shopping Parade and to maintain standards.
Regular membership meetings are held to identify new areas requiring action and to monitor tasks previously highlighted.
In the five years in operation it has proved to be a resounding success with attainments of:

  • Patrolling by police officers on pedal cycles.
  • Crime reduction (anti-social behaviour, shoppers’ personal safety, theft from shops and persons, reduction in graffiti applications to buildings)
  • Car parking and pedestrian environment improvements.
  • The promotion of Manford Way as a shopping parade.
  • All shops now certified as asbestos free.
  • The ongoing implementation of CCTV.
  •  Membership increase of the partnership

Short term successful objectives have been

  • Assisting in the retention of the Post Office
  • Crime-safer neighbourhoods
  • Liasing with Council Officers regarding pavement trading
  • Introduction of crime prevention radios
  • The continuation of free parking whilst shopping
  • Working with local youngsters to maintain favourable relationships
